Sounds too good to be true and it most likely is.
But, I would like to know what others have to say on this.
Thanks.
I second that.
I do well with AdSense, am probably one of the most knowledgeable publishers around, and I have never read one of their ebooks.

Well, you can make massive cash with AdSense, but you don't have to spend a hundred books on an ebook to tell you how ;)
Precisely. As this type of scam has been around for absolutely yonks, how come people still fall for it?
Yeah, but it's not as bad as the sites hawking systems for beating slot machines or roulette. I saw one that said, "It's like winning the lottery every day!" That one REALLY begs the question, so what the hell do they need to sell the system for?
I get mad when I see people spreading trash like that, but then again, if anyone is gullible enough to buy it, part of me thinks maybe they deserve to be parted with their money...
Anyway, to try to get this back on topic, while I was kind of kidding earlier when I said that there are definitely riches to be had because I made $8.81 yesterday, that was actually only half in jest. That's nearly $300/mo., not enough to live off of, but enough to pay for my health insurance. And I'm only a month into AdSense. My goal is $1000/mo. There are those who make tens of thousands a month.
To make money with AdSense you need lots of page visits. My extremely rough estimate is that 500 pageviews a DAY = $100 in AdSense revenue per MONTH. So "all you have to do" is build a popular site that gets a lot of traffic. The thing is, if you have a popular site that gets lots of traffic, you have so many ways to make money off of it -- AdSense is only one of them.

liar! Adsense wasn't started till the 70's.
;)
:p
So not getting rich, but I enjoy being able to make a small return after all the work I put into making info sites to share for free. Never thought I would get any return at all when I made them...

Take heart then - what you want is acheivable. I set up adsense to pay for the webhosting on my site (support/information site). In my first month (Jan 2004) I got enough to qualify for my first cheque. I haven't quite made your target yet, but the last two months have come pretty close!
My advice is to experiment with page layout and banner positioning. I moved my banner from top of the page, to right aligned skyscraper to center square box. The last move trebled my CTR and earnings.
Obviously content here is key. My site existed before Adsense, and I didn't make any major changes in order to make the best out of adsense. The site runs to a couple of hundred pages, and Adsense is only on about 5 pages total. Most of my income comes from the front page of the site, and contains just a couple of paragraphs about the site itself.

This will vary widely. One of my pages has a high page view rate, yet whatever I do it has a low CTR. However, I would say that 500 page views a day can easily achieve $100 (assuming it's not a typo, and you meant $1,000). We can't discuss specifics here due to the TOS, but suffice to say that last month 500 clicks daily earned me your target of $100 in multiples greater than the number of digits on one hand - just.

As long as you have found a niche, your site is content driven, and not made for adsense then you are likely to get the best out of Adsense, due to the popularity of the site, and repeat visitors who genuinely want to explore that rich content! As for monetising in other ways, again what works for one doesn't work for others. I have tried various affiliate schemes, and the only one that works well on my site is Adsense. Others find the reverse is true.

Absolutely. It's great to get some reward for the hours spent on the site. As well as the webhosting being paid for, I've got me a new mountain bike and I'm saving up for a family holiday now.
1- Sign up for Adsense
2- Join Affliate programs for bunch of sites
3- Put up several sites to promote the affiliate programs
4- Do CPC advertising
5- Do SEO
7- Do other internet marketing, such as banner ads, link exhcnage, link buys, optin email, etc...
I have seen some of the same sites you are talking about and wondered what idiots pay for that!
Not sure who this comment is aimed at, or the specific reference. I'd agree that some sites made by people in their spare time are unlikely candidates to do well from Adsense, but it's not a universal truth by any means.
I'd suggest that the fact my site is listed at 3/4 on all search engines for the most relevant keyword, is respected AND generates what I consider to be a substantial income, that rather proves the point that home made websites are as good as/better than commercial ones. And often more relevant to viewers searches.
Get rich easy or quick schemes don't work. If you want to make money with AdSense read this forum, build a quality site, and work on getting lots of traffic.
Brett has got a great post on how to build a successful site, maybe someone can post it.
I image the bigger your site, the less you get per pageview: If a visitor visits more pages and thus sees the ads twice as many times, you're probably not going to get twice as many clicks.
That might be true if all users entered a site via the home page, but the larger the site, the more likely it is that many users will arrive on "inside" pages from search engines. Ad clicks on those inside pages may be worth more or less than ad clicks on the home page, depending on the topic.

I'll echo that sentiment, because it reflects my own experience. For what it's worth, a "homemade" site may actually be more "professional" than a corporate-owned site, because its content is more likely to be written by a principal who knows the topic than by inexperienced, underpaid employees.
There is discussion on this.

Any easy money could involve a fraud. If it is about Adsense, it could be click fraud. I heard that there is a list that you can join and scripts will generate clicks for the sites in the list. You will make thousands in a short period time, but you COULD go to jail if you become part of the criminal ring.
I have a hobby site, #30 or so in a field of 4 million pages listed in Google for my topic.
It gets maybe 500 unique visitors a day, good unique content etc.
Up to now, no advertising at all. Lets say I put in Adsense ads.
Will my SERPs position be affected either way, up or down as a result?
Will the site lose much popularity due to the ads?
Would it be wiser to put Adsense on internal pages, rather than the entry index page?

Will my SERPs position be affected either way, up or down as a result?
No.
Will the site lose much popularity due to the ads?
Not if you resist the temptation to go overboard with multiple ad units. On a special-interest site, ads can enhance value to the user--just as they do in special-interest magazines, where readers have been known to say, "I buy the magazine for the ads."
Would it be wiser to put Adsense on internal pages, rather than the entry index page?
Why not both? You certainly wouldn't want to place ads only on the index page, unless your inside pages are getting zero traffic.
I've built up a good reputation in my rather narrow niche,
and don't want to harm that for a few dollars a month.
I would be inclined to go underboard rather than overboard.
I'm considering ads for internal pages that get visited frequently.
I'm a bit leery of commercials/ads on my main entry page, afraid that
it would look like I've "gone commercial" in a field where that is frowned upon.
Many of the commercial looking sites are run by scrapers or outright frauds.
The URL for my site is in my profile.

Don't see why it should. My site has a similar number of unique visitors, and adding adsense a year back didn't change the position.
Will the site lose much popularity due to the ads?
Probably not. That didn't happen to me at any rate. I was worried about an obtrusive banner, but as it happens most of the regular visitors simply don't see the banner any longer, despite being placed centre of the page! I think you need to experiment with banner placement, and go with whatever you think looks good, and gives you maximum income.

I think you have to experiment with what pages to place it on. My personal experience is that it works best on the entry page, and that doesn't have a lot of info on it - just a couple of paragraphs about the site. I have banners on five or less pages throughout a site that runs to several hundread pages. Adsense simply doesn't work on certain pages or areas of the site, so there isn't any point putting a banner there IMHO. Also, like you I'm concerned about visitors getting the impression that the site is just a money raiser.
I'd sign up, and add a couple of banners to start with, and later on move them around to see where they are most effective. You can't see trends quickly though - I usually try something for a month or so before I make a decision as to if it stays or not.
you have to get creative
think of an original I-D-E-A that people like and put up a web page about that idea.
then people come to the webpage and click on the ads and you make money.
see...its all about c-o-n-t-e-n-t..no need to buy expensive programs and such
Many or most of my pages display specialized maps.
A lot of visitors will come in looking for a map of some place,
_without_ reference to my main interests or keywords.
If I show them a map of widget sightings, they just go away.
I'm wondering if Adsense can be tailored to requests as specific as
"mapa de Centro-America", "Carte de France", "Map Europe" and the like.
Then there's potential income to consider.
I hope we are not talking nickels and dimes..
Thanks again -Larry
