Non-English Ads Display Problem

i see some traditional chinese language ads appear together with English ads.
However, the traditional chinese ads words are all appear in "question marks".

i can view those ads properly when looking inside the adsense preview tool

This is a bug for adsense banner cater for multiple languages

Did you see this problem happened on other languages as well? or the problem is just for Chinese language?

It is sometimes a way the advertiser is targeting the ads. And it could also be geo-targeted related.

i am not complaining these ads to appear.

i am complaining google adsense do not display the ads characters in its language properly.

This problem do not happen if they are appearing from
Google.com search engine sponsor result listing.

Just a bug in the adsense system

It's a long-established bug, affecting all languages using a non-Roman script.

That's very interesting then

Google say we can put adsense code on web pages of many other non-English webpages and get paid.

But in fact, the ads in these languages cannot display properly.

i have another question

if all four ads served on adsense banner are all
Chinese or are all Japanese ads.

Will they still mixed up the code too?
I wonder the problem happen only if they served ads from different languages. e.g. 3 Eng ads + 1 Chinese ad

Or the problem is there no matter
if all four ads are of the same language?

What is the situation really?

Why they do not fixed the problem?

Try to change page encoding. Web browsers usually render correctly latin letters on all encoding settings. For example, I have pages translated in Chinese (GB2312) with English text embedded and rendered correctly. You should find out which encoding does AdSense ad use and change your page encoding. This way all ads will be displayed correctly.

I always wondered whether this was a local problem rather than a G problem.

A local problem meaning that the fonts used are not installed on the computer viewing the ads.

In the previous thread I referred to above, encoding was discussed at length, it has no affect on the content of the ads when the ads are in mixed scripts (as they are in a different page, served by Adsense, within the iframe). Doesn't look like anything has changed since then.

Roman/Latin scripts are those used in most current western European languages (like this). Other scripts that cause problems when mixed into other ads on Adsense include Greek, Japanese, etc. (because the iframe page doesn't have a character set specified). It's nothing to do with the browser fonts available (see previous thread).

>> iframe page doesn't have a character set specified

Google should have independent & correct "character set specified" for each separate ad space inside the banner space
