Merchant sites with AdSense

Is it allowed? What will affiliates think?

Hi,
I want to ask, if it is allowed to put AdSense on merchant sites?
I ask this, because in the Google guidelines it said "Avoid "doorway" pages created just for search engines, or other "cookie cutter" approaches such as affiliate programs with little or no original content"
What do they mean by "affiliate programs with little or no original content"?

And also, if I am a merchant selling an ebook, for example, and get plenty of traffic from my affiliates, will they leave me, if I put AdSense on this site?

Most of the serious affiliates will leave you.

They have no intention of sending you free traffic that you can "leak" out to paid clicks.

You might get a better response on that part of your question in the Advertising and Affiliate Programs forum, though.

I assume they're referring to hotel booking pages, product catalog pages, etc. that use boilerplate text from vendors.

If you would make more money with AdSense than the affiliates, choose AdSense. If you make more money with affiliates than AdSense, choose affiliates.

At the end of the day, it's all about the money ;)
