American Indians in place of Asian Indian

Hi,

My site is targetted towards south asian Indians. But adsense keeps showing ads for NAtive American Indians on some of the pages.

Any hints?

I think you're out of luck until Google extends "hints" from premium partners to rank-and-file AdSense publishers. Sometimes, the mediabot simply gets confused--and not only in cases where one name can mean two things. (I'm currently seeing ads for ATM providers in a Venice, Italy apartment article that makes a casual reference to automated teller machines in the body text!)

My suggestion is to email G, especially if nowhere in the page do you ever mention native americans. I did it on my pages on loan collaterals where the ads showing up are about "Collateral" (Tom Cruise movie). Even if I put the URLs in my ban list, a new ad about the movie will show up. I brought it to G and they fixed the problem.

Consider yourself blessed. I've never been able to get them to acknowledge a mismatching problem, even in chronic instances. (Fortunately, matching is usually better now than it was six months or a year ago.)

In theory, that should sort itself out as irrelevant ads get a low CTR and get sent to the back of the line. It seems to happen like that for me, with perhaps a few chronic mismatches. But that's the problem with automation; it makes the occasional mismatch. And it's well worth the trade off of having to spend virtually zero time in human hours trying to match ads to pages.

Still, on popular "evergreen" pages that have chronic mismatches, investing a small amount of time in supplying hints could easily pay off.

I have one set of pages that, for the topic, have a great clickthrough rate. Unfortunately, mediabot often seems to think the pages are talking about an entirely different topic which is worded very similarly. Url blocking and rewriting the pages didn't help. The only way to guarantee the right ads showing up was to ad an extra ad block.
