Could I get into tax problems? I do this privately, and will soon obtain a business licence in Germany, but I don't know, if that could cause problems in the US.
Your help is appreciated!
Do keep in mind that you might not receive your check until the beginning of October, since Google has until the 30th of the month to send a check for payment.
Second, do you already have a relationship with a bank in the US? If not, you will find it difficult to cash a 4 figure check in the US, even if it is from a big name like Google. And even if you can, many banks will put a hold on funds for several days when the check is over a certain amount, depending on the kind of account you have.
Just some things to keep in mind :)
it would be something like:
Your name
c/o Your American Bank
Main Street
City, State Zip
Things that you should ask.
- Whether or not they provide that service {some small community banks that serve inmigrant communities and private banking departments do so, and some even for free }
- The ability to execute transactions via fax.
- How easy can you move the money between the US bank and your home bank.
- The ATM card is a great idea and the fees should be minimal.
P.S: They will probably put a hold on the check funds availability, but that should not be much of a problem. I think Google is using a NY bank for the disbursements so you might be able to cash it if you are going to NY and go directly to that bank. Take as many pieces of picture ids as you have or can get your hands on. Things are a bit stricter now than they used to be.
