Pages setup for Adsense - minimising risk

Why does google disallow websites set up for adsense?

I understand that Google does not allow pages solely set up for adsense.

If that is the case how can one minimize the risk of having the adsense account suspended (and consequently not being paid)?

How does google decide that a website is just for adsense?

What can be done to get around this and stay onside with google?

I would think they would look at the site, if it has content that could be valuable to a reader then it wasnt just set up for adsense.

When I think of an adsense site, I think of a site that has snippets of other websites for a keywod on each page plus the ads. Just my opinion.

Thanks for responding,

But how does Google decide what is valuable to a reader?

Sounds like a question for Google. Only they would have the definite answer (if they were to answer at all).

My *guess* is that they put that in there for the obvious infractions. Keyword spammed pages with nothing but adsense on them for example.

One rule of thumb that I've seen posted (by other publishers, not by google) is that if you take adsense off the page, does the page serve a content purpose of its own.

To minimise risk, you could setup a site and then ask the google team directly if it is allowed or not.

If you're afraid to have the google team look at the site, that might answer your question before you ask :)

Thanks Rodney,

Does that mean that it is less likely to be considered constructed purely for adsense if I were to stick up informative articles that provide value to the viewer?

Afterall, the idea is to be an affiliate marketer and therefore be rewarded for providing useful information to consumers, it just so happens to be that I'm only signed up to Google adsense.

Is that allowed? or is the fact that the only way I make money by google adsense a violation?

That is not a violation. Lots of people only use adsense, I would recommend not putting all your eggs in one basket though.

I totally agree look at your content without adsense, is it a value to your readers? I think informative articles are a great way to create good content.
