best month since May

Well, I've finally topped my previous best month at adsense (May), but only barely.

At first glance this sounds good, but considering the amount of work I've put into the site, it almost seems counter-productive.

It's like the more I work on the site, the more traffic I get, the lower the CPC and CTR becomes. Of course there are hundreds of variables, and by simply updating and adding pages to the site, I'm potentially diluting the traffic.

I've a few more sites waiting to come online.. fingers crossed for a good winter season... Decemeber will be my 1 year adsense anniversary ;)

I hear about this often - you need to build more to keep your same level of earnings?

When things are not as good as they once were, people look for all sorts of reasons.

When you first add adsense, it is new to the site and people see the ads. After a while banner blindness kicks in and revenue drops. Web masters try to add more pages and the revenue climbs up again, but not to the same eCPM as when Adsense was first added. This is often blamed on Adsense, which seems to ignore one of many real causes.

It a nutshell most people blame Google when revenue falls - they look for a simple one line reason (must be Google). But frequently there are many many other reasons - novelty/banner blindness is just one factor.

I think this must happen because of the increased websites and adsense publishers each day.

I am on the other end of the spectrum. After a rocky 1st and 2nd month i have kept having my best month every month.

October earnings are up over 600% on september, although during this time i did a complete website redesign which turned one of my lowest traffic website into my highest, and by a lot. I am really happy with this month.,

Anyway, there are always two sides of the spectrum. I am going up, you are experiencing going down or at least level.
