I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but I'm rather new to all this and still very much in a learning phase.
I have a semi-academic informational site, a hobby project, where visitors are mostly students, from K12, over high school to universities. There is probably some degree of tourists and art and history lovers in there too.
The sites makes a little money with AdSense, but not a lot. No other programs have really made anything there, since people come for information, not for buying.
Whenever I decide on writing a new article for the site, I might have ten equally valid choices, non of them really commercial in nature. I'm not selling stuff.
I'd like to be able to pick one that gives me well-paying ads. How do I find out what a click on an AdSense ad is worth? Do I have to sign up for adwords to get to look at the bids or what? My choices are equally valid from the site's perspective.
If you want to get really rich, you could write an article on the history of gambling and casino's in society, and how an ever increasing greed amongst mankind has led to widespread debt problems, with many people remortgaging and consolidating their existing loans into one, low, monthly repayment, and of course the birth of the personal injury compensation industry...
