Increased earnings - why?

A while back I took the advice here in optimising my page. I've been monitoring the results for the last three months.

Since placing the banner centre of the page CTR has nearly trebled, and has been stable over the last three months. CPM varies but not significantly, and the number of page views has been stable before and after the optimisation.

The two things that have been steadily increasing are the actual clicks per day, and conseqently the bottom line earnings figure.

My question is, bearing in mind the site content, visitor numbers, and (recently) CTR hasn't changed, what could account for the steadily increasing number of clicks? I'm theorising that Google is attracting a steadily increasing stream of advertisers, who have to bid higher all the time. Is there any way I can confirm this at all? Anyone any thoughts?

Probably higher bids. It depends what the content of your page is about, but new advertisers are coming to AdWords every day and in a lot of sectors average bids are increasing. This will probably continue to be the trend in the run up to Christmas. Even if the ads are not seasonal related in anyway, it is usually the busiest time of year for most businesses.

The answer lies in what you yourself said in your post -- you changed the position of the ad at the center of your page.

Although your question is very confusing -- how could CTR not change if you have "steadily increasing number of clicks." An increasing number of clicks means that your click-through rate (CTR) is increasing. They are one and the same. Or do you mean EARNINGS PER CLICK? Get your metrics right first :o)

Depending on the time period as well: there are periods with higher advertising spendings, tougher competition for the top spots of AdWords ads and so on.

Also: G tweak their media bot all the time, maybe they are targeting better, sometimes worse...

Very simple answer: it depends.

OK - I worded the post badly.

Clearly if CTR is the same and clicks have increased, then page views have to have increased. What I'm experiencing is minor changes in page views etc, and a major increase in earnings that is out of proportion to the increased clicks :) :) :)

I'm trying to ascertain if the increase is actually down to anything I've done, or anything has happened on planet Google, or it's just something that is a combination of several factors so just enjoy the income!

I'm guessing it's the last one, but thanks for the feedback.
