sites' revenue affecting each other

I have read a couple of posts on the forum in recent days about this issue: 2nd or 3rd sites on someone's account bringing up or pulling down the revenue (via smart pricing I assume) of the main site.

I have two AS sites, the second of which only earns 5% of the total. Am I muddying the revenue waters just for the sake of the extra 5%?

I suppose all I need to is to take it off for a week and see but wanted to try and find out first if it was just a web urban legend or whether there was any truth to it.

web legend: No one has proof, no one has figures and no one knows - too many factors involved - except inside the googleplex, they know - but the details on how payout is calculated is one of several things that google will probably not let us know.

might whip the code off site 2 for a week then and see what happens.

expect me back if Site 1 revenue doubles! ;-)

I've thought this for a while. When we added a new site, revenue of the existing ones dropped. But it went up again (and down again) so there may not be a connection with adding sites. And giving each one it's own account is not an option :(

I agree with your theory.

How about an increase in EPC & CT% since they started allowing 3 ads per page (and I didn't bother adding extra ad units...)

oooooh, the fix is in. ;-)

I've done this as well. Started a second site, then a third, and put G ads on both of them. I haven't seen any noticable drop in my earnings, but I also haven't seen any noticable increases, either. I'm thinking about getting rid of the G ads completely on those other two sites and just go with the paid banners, since more ads just clutters up the pages.
