What A Headache!

Changing payee name

When I joined Adsense I signed up as an "individual" and had cheques made out to my name. Now, I need to change the payee name to another person's name.

So, what needs to be done? The Google Adsense Team informs me that I need to close my current account and apply for a new one! Ouch. Why ouch? Because I have no other choice but to do this.

So, what does this mean? It means hoping and praying that I'll get accepted into Adsense once again under a new payee name AND different email address. As well, I now must go and remove all of my "old" code and replace it with the new acct. code.

Moral of the story? Don't ever change payee name on the check unless you absolutely have to! This has cost me time and big headaches. Please wish me luck when applying for a new acct. And there's not even any saying as to what adding brand new code will do to my CTR and EPC (both tend to improve with time the longer you leave your code alone...just an observation after being in the program for over a year).

why are you doing this (changing payee name)? did you sell your website?

Melfan...No, I didn't sell the site. It's a long story. In fact, it would take 10 pages to explain it all. Just know that I have no choice...unfortunately. And trust me, I looked at ALL options...

Changing payee used to be very easy. When I first started with the program I changed the payee name several times (for tax reasons) and spread the money out to wife, kids etc. But that all seems to have changed about three months ago. It's not important why people need to change payee names - it could be tax planning, reorganising finances, divorce, business reasons etc. BUT I can see Google's point. There's a lot of money floating about in Adsense payments and taxmen everywhere have this itch...

Macro...I wish I had to do it three months ago then. But I agree, they have to cover their butts on this one because it could be abused. I have asked them to close my account and am still waiting for them to do so before I re-apply for a new one. Funny thing, just today I received a click that was higher than I had ever seen in terms of $$. It was almost as though a new advertiser goofed on their bid amounts and I benefitted. We're talking about a click that was worth 180 times normal average...not that I'm complaining ;)

yea I too had to do it, had a slight problem. But it was very easy, just change the field you want to , click save changes and presto you are done. The enxt cheque would reflect the changes. Address too used to be easy. I hear its become tough to change address too now.

But those folks at adsense are real helpful, if what you facing is a genuine problem then they do go the extra mile to see to it that its solved.

Everything worked out fine....closed my acct. yesterday morning, applied for a new one and was accepted by mid afternoon. I then had all code replaced by the evening. Funny thing is I thought my EPC would drop, but while they're trying to re-target my pages it's actually gone up (for now)! An unexpected bonus :)
