I currently check at least 50 times a day, but that is an improvement on last month, when it would have been twice as often, Then, I used to transfer the stats to my Excel spreadsheet at every viewing, too. Now I do this only 20 or so times a day, so there are signs of an improvement.
I justify my obsessive behavior on the grounds that my present AdSense income is making a vast difference to my lifestyle - more than doubling my disposible income from all other sources - so I think that I need to reassure myself that it is really happening, and it is not just a dream.
As the Adsense adverts are on my own site and I have internet access at work I really need to get it down.
Just changed to skyscrapers and colours and just keep checking.
Mind you dont check it as much as webmasterworld ;)
On that note, am watching my first three pages carefully - the only real conversion being subscribers & forum members. If they decline sadly, I'll have to make a choice as to whether leading visitors off my site is worth the $$...
I honestly dont feel like this is going to be an issue (for my site specifically), but like I said - watching it closely ;)

But when do you have time to have a lifestyle when you're always checking your stats?
Whenever I'm feeling particularly obsessive, I can check back here and realize, no, there is someone... SOMEONE out there who is more obsessive than I am! :)
And I mean that in a good way ;-)
Oh, and Lynn... yes, what the other guy said... your big screen TV post had me really laughing hard... just brilliant! :D
It was actually a joke I used to make regarding PayPal and their Visa Debit card... during the "info products" craze.
Perhaps we should encourage Google to implement a daily stats email - and/or only update our stats once a day? LOL We'd get a lot more done that way ;)
Do they say anywhere in their disclaimer:
"Not responsible for lost work time, or any other negligent behaviour as a result of AdSense Stats Obsession, such as, but not limited to: forgetting to eat, missing your best friends wedding, skipped appointments with your probation officer...
? ;) ~ Lynn
On a more serious note, though, I do think that a lot of this calms down over time.
I remember when I bought shares in my first mutual fund AND shares of stock in my sister's biotech company for the first time (both a few years ago, during the height of the dot.com boom!)
I was checking Etrade about every five minutes, at work, no less and:
- I sure wasn't the only one!
- Yes, the money was increasing practically every time :D
- No, it didn't last (the money increasing, or my eagerness to check) :(
