When AdSense doesn't have ads for a page und thus displays the alternate ad url, does that count as an ad impression in the statistics (and for the CTR)?

Presumably it does not count if you have an alternate color there instead of an alternate ad, right?

My understanding is that it still counts.

An impression is counted each time the AdSense code is executed by a browser. If you've opted to use the alternate ad feature in lieu of PSAs, the AdSense code will still be executed in order to display your chosen alternate ad or alternate color. So yes, alternate ads (and colors) do count towards your impressions just like a PSA would.

Hope that helps!

ASA, does effective cpm figure into how smart pricing determines a publisher's payout?
