I have been running AdSense on my site for few months with rather stable and low revenues.
I implemented some changes in the ads colors (I blended them more) and placement (I moved them closer to the top of the page where possible).
I was hoping to get an increase of revenues of course, but mainly by means of a CTR increase.
What I got was a burst of revenues (yes, that was good news) just the day after the change.
But the CTR only marginally changed. And the CPM got multiplied by 10 to 50 where I had made the changes.
Is this "normal"? If what I have done impacts the EPC, what will impact the CTR?
Thanks.
We mostly use rectangles, and we cannot say with any conclusive proof whether Adsense picks up on the word above or below the ad. We have a few pages that it picks up on a keyword on the top, with some pages that picks up keywords below. We also have many pages where the ad is not based at all in the article, but may be theme-based, from something in the navigation bar, or from somewhere.
