Bit of a newbie on Adsense here..

Anyone know if there is a possibility of geo-targetting Adsense ads?

That is only showing them to people outside Europe for example.

I guess this could be done with some IP-redirection stuff. Anyone tried this before and is it within Adsense TOS?

As long as you are not changing the actual AdSense script, it shouldn't be a problem. That aside, I don't think Google will have an issue if you decide to only show AdSense to some people and not others, based on IP.

Why would you want to do this? Just curious.

Or there is something much more profitable targeting Europeans than AdSense ;)

Why would you want to do this? Just curious.

Lets say it's a very information rich site on widgets that search engines like.

However, due to the nature of this widget business, customers tend to do business locally.

For this site, 75% of the visitors come from outside Europe, but 75% of business comes from within Europe.

Geotargetted Adsense for publishers would make sense then..

Don't you Adsense users feel discriminated compared to all the customisation and localisation levels Adwords users have? ;)

Personally I don't, since nearly all my visitors come from the Netherlands and Belgium there is no need to distinguish between countries. I can imagine situations where some targetting options would be nice though.

This is interesting

Is anyone "switching" content or ads based on IP / region / language?

And is this considered "cloaking / redirected" by google?

I have seen examples where espotting ads generate more $ in european sites. So since AS and espotting can't run together, it would be smart to geo target there to provide the more profitable ad server per country.

Not really. Adsense is much newer than Adwords. Additional Adsense customation features are in beta as noted in a number of threads here on WW. Time will improve things for us.
