We've often discussed what we believe advertisers think about Google content ads (including AdSense). Now you can hear some opinions from the advertisers themselves in an AdWords Forum thread titled "Content Network: What Google needs to do" at:

What a shock! There are advertisers who want more control over where their ads are displayed! I happen to be one of them.

Would AdSense be better overall if advertisers had more control? Yes.

Is the sky falling under the current system? No, not at all. I have several sites dispaying AdSense ads in several categories and not one of them is experiencing a downward spiral in EPC or clicks within the last few months.

I simply don't see advertisers opting out in droves. The fact is there seem to be more advertisers joining the ranks all the time.

AdSense isn't perfect, and it never will be. It also isn't horrible and it never will be IMO. It will only get better for publishers AND advertisers, especially as more competition comes on board.

Advertisers want the best of both world - easy ad delivery to a large volume of customers and precise control over ad placement. Unfortunately, current technology doesn't allow this.

Google needs to work with advertisers to develop an easy to use ROI tracking system and then allow them to automatically block sites with low ROIs.

At a bare minimum, the Google needs to provide advertisers with detailed information on which sites their ads are appearing. That way advertisers can block sites they don't feel are appropriate for their ads.

yep, that is what I was getting at with my AdSense Gold idea...at the very least, some very broad categorising possible of AdSense sites.

too many AdWorders exclude content sites (me included) because the quality is just too low in many cases.
