It would make sense. If you have a page on widgets, and very high page rank, it would mean (unless you've bought your pagerank) that others found your page valuable and, therefore, more relevant.
PageRank has been devalued in Google's search algorithm, so it's hard to believe that Google would use it to influence smart pricing. (PageRank is too easily manipulated by SEOs who buy inbound links and create their own link farms.)

I think that the "the way the user got to your site..." statement is another possibility. Knowing how Google likes to use math for everything the "smartpricing formula" probably has a dozen variables. If I had to guess, we are talking about 17 factors involved.

WOOH WOOH WOOH. Last I checked you did not work for Google. 99% of Google employees most likely are not allowed to know exactly how the algo works in a given month. Any claim you make as to Pagerank meaning less has been from your experiance and is certainly not confirmed by anyone who would know (google employees).
The Google algo is about as secret as the nuclear launch codes, and my bet is that they have not handed the keys over to you to broadcast about it on the adsense forum.
You may think that Page rank means less but you have no way of knowing for sure, no one does. Google has said that its algo is made up of hundreds of variables. It is very very possible that another change was made to make you think that page rank was devalued. No armchair expert that does not work for google has any idea how much value pagerank takes into account, too many other variables exist to attribute a change in rank to google devaluing pagerank.
It might be logical for adsense to allocate payout in accordance with pagerank
It might be more logical for Google Plc to drop pagerank for those sites who attempt to use AdWords thus maximising Google's revenues as desperate webmasters start throwing more money to solve problem...
Perhaps I am just too cynical.
