Example: I create a new page, but it's not quite optimized for content, hence it gets a lot of ads not really targeted to the page content - say for green widgets as soon as it gets 1 or 2 pageloads.
Then I revise the page content to remove any and all references to green widgets, or anything green, or indeed anything about widgets. Result - lots of ads for green widgets. Wait a day or two, lots of pageloads. Still getting ads for green widgets.
Put the identical (revised) page content on a new page - no ads for green widgets.
Days later, old page still displaying ads for green widgets.
Anyone know how long (if ever) it takes AdSense to realize that a page content has changed and that maybe it needs to revise the ads it's serving?
I suppose the moral of the story is to get it right BEFORE you launch a page, though it's not always easy to figure out what Adsense will do. For example I currently I have a page all about a product made by manufacturer "X", but 90% of my AdSense ads are for products made by manufacturer "Y". Other pages get lots of manufacturer "X" ads, so they're well represented within AdSense. There's NO mention of manufacturer "Y" anywhere on the page. I still can't figure out why AsSense is serving "Y" ads rather than "X" ads on this particular page. It's stuck on "Y" and it's not like buyers of "X" would be likely to switch to "Y".
This is the same reason why so many bloggers have a hard time showing targeted ads, because AdSense doesn't know the page has changed since the last visit.
