I have been seeing many web sites these days that use mutliple ads on thier pages. The intresting thing is they don't serve identical ads, since there has been a lot of discussion about this issue I wonder if it is a violation of TOS to server mutliple ads that DONT server identical ads.

Accroding to TOS it is ok but i know that google is sensitive when it comes to mutliple ads on the same page.

Right now, Google only allows a single ad unit on a page. However, there are some publishers beta testing multiple ad units on a page. And unless something has just changed, AdSense disabled the ability for most publishers to display more than one ad unit per page. [webmasterworld.com]

I saw a site the other day with 3 AdSense ads...and it wasn't a very great site where I would think that Google would allow them any special privledges.

It seems a lot of sites are doing this - I really don't buy the whole multiple ads are disabled..I think it only applied to recent accounts.

My account is from the beginning of AdSense, and I can only show one ad unit. And I have heard from enough other people that definitely makes me believe it is widespread.

Don't forget, they are not going to just beta test the mainstream, higher traffic sites. They will want to test a broad cross section, so you could easily be seeing a beta tester.

Another possibility, sometimes people are running AdSense competitor's ads on the same page, and many of them look near-identical to AdSense, so there could probably be some confusion over that as well (and no, displaying competitors ads on the same page is not permitted as per the AdSense terms)

Multiple ads stopped displaying a month ago or so.

I have seen many shoddy site sdo this as well.

I would think (at least i would hope that google would have a tiny bit of sense) that google does not allow these sites, but they are going on just fine.

THis is a case of google being lazy and not willing to actually do a good job of patroling sites in the program to see if they are following the TOS.

People see this behavior of not policing sites, and it will just get worse. I am getting real close to adding a second adsense unit on my pages, maybe clicking my own ads, why not, doesnt sound like google is doing anything about it....................

Great Advice...

And how long will it be before you're on here moaning about being thrown out of the Adsense program?

I wrote to google regarding this some time back & they said that you are elligible for more customisation & multiple ad units if your site has over 20 million hits per month.

About a week ago I discovered one page on one of my sites where I ran AdSense twice. When I moved the include script from the top of the page to farther down the middle, I did a copy and paste instead of a cut and paste. So for about 6 weeks it ran duplicate ads and apparently Google never noticed, nor did I. This isn't a very busy page, just about 1000-1500 page views per month.

It's fixed now, but I was surprised Google didn't catch it. I would have guessed that they had an automated way of checking to see if ads are served multiple times for the same page.

I always report such sites. and you guys should too. The more adsense banner ppl see the less click you will get. Just nail this idea to your mind!

Surprisingly I didnt get any respsonse to my recent reports and they still run mutliple ads on their pages.. We think about google more than they think about themselves. Geez!
