1) the AdWords advertisers had a big advertiser come on with high bids (or a high bidder was lost for those seeing lower EPC)
or
2) Google has done its regular "smart pricing" update based on conversion data (and whatever else they use), and we're seeing the effect of that recalculation.
I tend to lean toward #2 more than #1 since I'm reading more of these kinds of posts since the smart pricing change.
Google has done its regular "smart pricing" update based on conversion data (and whatever else they use), and we're seeing the effect of that recalculation.
This sounds very feasible, as the changes are marked enough to note a shift in the pricing.

I'm inclined to think both of these factors play a significant role. Together they can make for a pretty volitile environment.
For me the last month has been like a roller coaster as far as daily revenues go. Interestingly my long term averages, meaning monthly and three months, are rock solid. Fortunately traffic has been increasing and which has meant an overall growth in earnings.

I'm hoping for that one. I can't check the channel data till it comes up in a couple of days but yesterday was a huge jump. But then things had been a bit slow the last few days. I'm wondering if there were some high paying clicks in there though. Some new advertiser or such. Time will tell.
Have some of you experienced similar conditions and if so, what have you done to correct it or will it even out one day?
I am in the travel business, and that just about duplicates what I have seen, though in my case CTR is up and earnings have remained much on track
Darned if I can see why impressions are way down!
I was wondering whether it had anything to do with the recently announced discount that Google offered to AdWords advertisers to persuade them to include AdSense in their campaigns.
But, from the postings here, that seems unlikely, since other people's results are wildly different.
I'm just putting it down to random fluctuations. Wish it would fluctuate the other way :-)
CTR is also up, so in case it's something to do with seasonal shopping maybe I'd better take some time for another look at the pages that would naturally get more this time of year and give them a bit of an update and tweak.
Monthly earnings are approx the same as they were last year even though impressions are up nicely since then. If not for more traffic my monthly income would be much lower that it is.
An oddity is Monday thru Wed stats are good as usual with not too much difference vs months ago. However, Thur Fri Sat Sunday stats are much worse than in the past (especially Fr Sat Sun) for no apparent reason. In other words the percentages are way lower vs M T W TH than in the past, not sure why but noticed that trend going on for some time.
These are all long term views. This info is not a complaint (just the facts) as I am very satisfied with AdSense.
Others have reported big spikes up over past few days. However, I have seen the exact opposite with this past Thur Fri and Sat and so far today (Sunday) being the lowest Effective CPM (and resulting income) my sites have seen since I joined Adsense 1 yr ago this month.
All time record low numbers across my very broad-based adsense sites involving many websites and highly diverse site content.
It really is amazing how we all seem to have such widely different results. Anyone know or can guess why?
