Found a content scraper. What to do...

He runs adsense, should I report him?

I check backlinks on several search engines. I also check several variations of anchor text that people tend to use to link to me. Today I found some guy's page that was loaded with scraped content from my site and from about 10 different other sites in my genre.
Scraped content and no links but what might "appear" to be outbound links. The guy's site has nothing to do with this topic and he runs adsense. Even if what he is doing is ok from the standpoint of adsense, it seems to me he is attempting to manipulate the search algo with this technique. My personal opinion is that he is riding on the backs of the webmasters he scraped from. I don't even like the notion of reporting another adsense publisher, but I don't think this kind of stuff is good for anyone--but the scraper. Report him?

Can you report him to AdSense? Will they care?

I'm forever coming across scraper sites that "quote" from my client and competitors sites. I am under the impression that Google doesn't care one whit about the quality of the sites that run AdSense. If you object to someone stealing your copyrighted material, please take it up with the offeding party, they told me in an e-mail. We don't get involved.

If someone knows anything different, please advise.

i have also got the response from adsense that they don't get involved with it.

only thing you can do is send them letter from your lawyer which means spending lot of money and getting into trouble yourself.

i think you can just email the scraper and ask him to remove pages.

Well ... I'm absolutely stunned that Google has taken that stance. Does their mantra means nothing when it has to do with "Adsense" alone?

Ethics go out the window when you use Adsense? Hmmm. Guess I won't be using Adsense anytime soon. That would REALLY tick me off! Come on Google. You can't pretend it doesn't matter just because it involves Adsense!

You can't stuff altruism into your hip pocket when it suits you and trot it out at your convenience ... when Larry and Sergey are shoved in front of a camera. Simply not right!

If a Web site is infringing on your copyright, you can file a DMCA complaint with Google, and Google will remove the offending pages from its search engine under the provisions of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. See:

During the past 4 years I have encountered about 30 sites that have copied complete pages from my site. In each case I contacted them and complained - I contact them by phone if the 1st email didn't get a response.

Every one of them removed the copied material.

In about 1/2 the cases the people hired a website developer to setup the pages and the developer took short cuts and created an entire website of various copied pages.

In several other cases an employee of the website owner took similar short cuts - they probably got fired.
