How do I make money buying Adsense ads...

Is anyone in here buying: Adsense ads, or search result listings in order to get customers to go to their site to buy things through affiliate programs? Is this a sound business model? Or just a hopeless cause? Looking forward to hearing comments...

So this is a sound business Model? Can you give some insight as to what you use to do your research? ie. what keywords do you pick, for what affiliate sites? And are you also running adsense ads on that site too?
