I am not sure if others have noticed it or not.. but now Google AdSense allows you to change the color for for AdSense Ads on your website.. and I am sure anyone who will look into it will get impressed. :)

Along with this, they have also added where one can see average daily clicks, impressions and earning.

Wonderful job by Google.

Just saw this. I am glad they are adding to the reporting. I wonder if the color option will improve click through rates.

I have updated the Ad Colors on my site (I am using about 7 different custom made sets).. and I like.. Cuz they are using IFrame there is no way for me to track the click... but from the looks of it.. I would say it is wonderful.

:) :) :)

My clicks are down quite a bit today...I'm sure if I had changed colors this morning, I would have been convinced that that was the problem :)

Dang! The standard colors look perfect on my site, so I can't tempt myself to play with the options. :-)

I love the new numbers at the bottom of the report, though I wish they'd add the revenue per 1,000 impressions.

When I thought about Google adding some alternate color options, I didn't think they'd give us the whole palette of colors to choose from. I'm impressed! I wish they allowed us to choose based upon what domain the ads would appear on. For some of us, I'm sure the color combination that would look perfect on one site would appear horrendous on another.

Those 7 day averages on the bottom are nice as well. Wonder what other features they might roll out for us in the future.

They do look good on your site. However if you want them to stand out a little more you could change the border. Red gray or black would blend in perfect with your site.

You're right novice :) I was looking at the new AdSense options while my two and a half year old was watching a Finding Nemo trailer on most of my screen ;)

I now see you can also rotate through four palettes with the same code as well. Even nicer than I thought on my initial impression! By rotating, it will help keep visitors from becoming AdSense blind, even if you do choose your own colors. With AdSense popping up everywhere, I think people were already becoming blind to the AdSense ads.

Hey, I hope that folks have fun playing with the colors and tweaking them to look just right on their site! When AdSense launched, I remember several people here on WebmasterWorld asked for this, so I'm glad that we could add color palettes so quickly. (I think you can select multiple palettes and it will rotate the colors randomly, too?)

Wow. So that's the ~ operator on Monday, News Alerts on Google Labs on Tuesday, and now color palettes for AdSense on Wednesday. Hope it's okay if we take Thursday/Friday off! ;)

Enjoy the new color palettes!

Who allowed you to take days off? Not us! ;)

Anyways, just to dampen this a bit, I wanted to point out that my 38 days of stats give me 45 days averages at teh bottom, appearantly counting the difference (8 days) as zeros, so my averages are much lower reported then in reality. The 7 day averages are fine, the all time ones aren't.

Just trying to help you iron it out ;)

PS: thanks from saving us from an armada of monotonously designed dark blue on white websites ;)

This feels like Christmas! I feel like I have just got a new game to play with, although it will increase impressions as I try and see which four look best. Brilliant!

I don't know what is your issue.

Google calculates the averages based on the actual days of your designated period. Even I would select the March as the starting point, the average would be calculated from the first day I was in Adsense program. I did not see any error there and the all time numbers are correct.

I am going to refrain from going to wild with the color templates since I have been acused of being color blind when it comes to choosing them for my website.

But really, this is a nice adition.

It would be nice to add two more columns of data, earning per click and earning per 1000 impressions.

I keep up with an Excel spreadsheet to show me the exact CTR (to three decimal places), the effective CPM and the average CPC for each day. It's kinda handy. My CPC is up a good bit today (highest in about two weeks), but I have no clue why. Also, are the "related searches" now much more obvious? They're so obvious I'm worried it may affect my CTR a bit. I guess we'll see.

The color thing is really cool, though. :)

I wish there are an option to remove "Related Searches on AdSense Ads"... as this is just taking increasing the number for unpaid click.... I hope Google will also understand this and update it, so users will have an option to remove it or will get paid certain $$$ for every clicks including "Ads by Google" & "Related Searches on AdSense Ads"

So now instead of displaying PSA ads, they seem to display a blank box with "This blank space brought to you by Google" as the header. The problem is the blank box is not transparent. It's ugly as anything!

And "Related Searches" is a major intrusion considering it's free ad for Google. That's pretty ridiculous.

But the custom color scheme is great. So I guess it's 1 step forward and two steps back. Nice one, Google.

Score a point for google on the colors.

They loose a point for the related searches.

They loose several points for the blank box (that is moronic...) imagine if they put the same box on their own site which did not have any adwords for the searches.

What I meant to say is that it gives me a 45 day average, which is nonesensical until I've actually been in the program for 45 days. It would be more usefull to give me an all time average for the days I have been in the program.

<ADDED>
Just noticed the related searches, that's a MAJOR intrussion! I could see how that is a big no no for some sites who will have to remove adsene altogether. But I'd really be disappointed if Google uses it's power to force such features on the publishers. These "add-ons" should be STRICTLY opt-in. My website is NOT google's toolbar.
<ADDED more>
Ok it does make a GREAT keyword research tool and tool to know if google figured out the page right, but it should be a tool, NOT a fixed display for everyone to see.

GG: Hope it's okay if we take Thursday/Friday off!

GG, looks like you didn't get away quite early enough... The "related searches" feature is not friendly to site owners. In essence, it's an uncompensated distraction that can potentially lead visitors to competitive links.

Nice job on the color stuff, though. If we opt to continue with AdSense we'll test it out.

Hey rogerd, I'm about to post over in another thread. Based on the initial feedback, we're going to pause the related searches feature until publishers have more options/flexibility.

Off to find the definitive thread to mention that in.. :)

The ability to change the colours turned out to be very good for me! (at least for today)

My CTR has never been so high, and it is almost the triple of most days.

Not that generating money from my website is the most important thing for me, providing good content to my visitors is my primary task, but still any revenue is nice :)

The revenue will probably allow me to buy things for my website, and maybe some better hosting in the long run.
