Using PO BOX as address

Was there ever a solution to the problem with using your PO Box number instead of a street address?

I want to use my po box and thought I would wait to see if they change things before I sign up.

I use this format:

My name
100 Any Street
Box 1234
Anytown, XX 12345

My postmaster explained that the mail sorters and handlers work from the 'bottom up".

The mail is first sent to the post office at the printed zip code. At this point the rest of the address is simply ignored.

The mail handlers at your post office then read the next line up (the PO box number) and place the item in the PO box without even reading the street address. You can even use a fake street address if you want because it's completely irrelevent to the proper delivery of your mail.

I've been using this format for years and it works flawlessly.

Thank you...I think I will do that. To be safe I am going to put the street address of the post office.

I thought I saw some postings about Fedx payments. I know they will not deliver to a po box. When does Fedx get involved with Adsense.

If your monthly check is over $10k it will be sent Fed Ex.

BTW, Google is not stupid. If they say no PO Boxes allowed, don't try to 'trick' them and use a PO Box. If you don't want to use your home address find a mail forwarding company or open a mailbox at The UPS Store.

This isn't "tricking Google". They ask for a street address. They receive a street address.

Google supplies two lines for you to use for the mailing address. Fill them both in and the Post Office will deliver the mail to the appropriate place, no tricks involved.

Is there something in the TOS about using a PO Box?

If not, why can't you just put the box number in the first line and leave the second line blank?

I have used a PO Box since I signed up without a problem. I guess the TOS are different now. If you supply the street address and the PO Box number you should have no problem.

Not a problem if you supply a valid street address AND a PO box. FedEx will just deliver to the physical address (assuming you supplied Google with a valid one).

You get the best of both worlds: your <10K checks go to your PO box while your >10K checks are delivered to your door.

Yeah, my concern was with this statement:

You can even use a fake street address if you want because it's completely irrelevent to the proper delivery of your mail.

> If they say no PO Boxes allowed,

They simply can do that. I believe it would violate applicable Fedral laws with regard to the US Postal Service.

There millions in the US, where the Box # is their only possible address. Ever hear of RFD?

Denying someone entrance to anything because they have a post box number, would also fall under discrimination laws.

That statement wasn't made as a suggestion to use a fake street address with Google. It was made to emphasize the point that mail will be delivered to the PO Box instead of the street address as long as the PO box is listed 2nd (just before the City, State, Zip).

It would be foolhardy to give Google a fake street address IMO.

I don't see how this would be true?

Many online stores only use UPS and won't ship to PO BOXES.

UPS the company doesn't ship to PO BOXES.

I'm sure there are other situations as well. I think it's up to the business to decide where they will "ship to" or not.

I haven't seen UPS up on any discrimination charges regarding to them not shipping to PO Boxes.

Ever hear of RFD?

Rapid Fire Deployment?
Rampant Flirtatious Damsels?
Rural Free Delivery?

Hmmm, I guess not... please enlighten us as to the relevance of this when it relates to Google not wanting a P.O. Box address.
