SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - A California man was arraigned on Thursday on federal extortion and wire fraud charges arising from a software program he claimed could allow spammers to defraud Web search company Google Inc. of millions of dollars, federal prosecutors said.

Additionally, Bradley claimed he would sell the software to spammers if Google did not pay him about $150,000, the U.S. Attorney's office said in a statement. a real 'Brain Surgeon'.
Guess he thought g's money was better than the spammers money LOL

if this is the same guy i remember, he was arrested several months ago. He was even allowed a visit to the googleplex at one point where he was given the opportunity to pitch his extortion demand. it was in at least one thread here. glad to see he won't be let off easy

The funny thing is, if he didn't try to extort them, there would be no case against him if he just sold it to the public! If he just had sold it, he could have made much more, and be absolved of the fraud liability because the fraud would lay on the hands of those who bought the software, not the creators.

The really funny thing is, this moron probably approached G initially--not as an extortionist, but rather he probably thought he was doing the "noble" thing by selling it to them. What a schmuck.
