Hi, this morning, I was going through the press release, and when I was scrolling down the page, I hit an Adsense ads once. I hit 'stop' before the page could refresh. Should I worry? Should I report it to AS team? Am I too paranoid?

Yes but you aren't alone. A lot of us have gotten out of the habit of clicking on adsense even on other people's sites just to make sure we don't click on our own by mistake.

No need to write to adsense though. The rule is to not click on your own ads.

Richmondsteve: I accidentally looked at my "Ads by Google" box in an Internet cafe. Will that count as a fraudulent impression?

You should really be worrying, I would notify adsense immediately of your fraudelnt activity!

Did you glance at it or was it more of an eyes glazed over stare? And did anyone see what you were doing? Let's hope that Google is too busy rejoicing over the big American Summer Solstice festivities to notice.

I would hide, if I were you. Guys in black suits will be at your door any minute.

They are already at my doorstep. Oh no, they are putting me on blindfold.

I've actually been wondering about what Google records when you click on the "ads by google" link in the adsense bar. The "ads by google" link leads to a page that lets you leave comments about ads that appear in the google adsense bar.

I suspect that Google does not pay for clicks on the "ads by google" link as it just goes to a Google hosted feedback page. For that matter, I would suspect that Google would appreciate feedback on the ads.

Let's say you see an ad appearing on your site that goes to a destination that you know is fraudulent. It seems to me that Google would appreciate adsense advertisers clicking on "ads by google" and leaving feeback about the ad.

sounds like a good idea to give the feedback, I am not going to click on anything that came with the javascript code adsense provided me. Yep, I'm paranoid :)

Heh this is crazy talk. I'm just waiting for someone to post and say they made $100 last month by clicking on their own ads. You know they're out there, laughing at you :)

irock, I did not realize you were actually referring to an accidental click on one of your own webpages. The lead-in of your post somehow made me (and apparently a few others) think you were jokingly stating you had accidentally clicked an Ad on >someone else's< page.

I really thought you were being funny. I did, I really did. :)

Assuming this was just a one-off, truly isolated accidental click, I think you would be fine. If it really bothers you, drop Adsense a line and take it easy.

best,

Bose

Dang. I knew I should have read the Patriot Act more carefully. :-)
