Targeted Advertising

I don't think so. More likely German or Benelux spam

I was apalled when I took a look around my site to find 60% or higher of the ads served were in German.

No wonder my CTR has dropped to below 0.8%.

The site is in English and for English speaking audience. It seems to me that both the users and I are losers in this scenario. (Although I'm sure google and the advertisers are both winners.)

I hope Adsense guy you can take this on board. There's no way I can check the ads served for other english speaking locations to ban urls and besides which it eats into my valuable time copying short cuts and deleting code.

If anyone has any suggestions about this please let me know.

Try viewing your ads through a proxy (or are you perhaps using a German proxy?) If AdSense believes your IP is German, it could show German ads to you. People in different countries (and even within different regions in the US) could see different ads on the same page, simply due to geotargeting.

Damn. I know nothing.

Yep new ISP and, apparently with a german proxy. (I do know they have German contacts in biz.)

Thanks jenstar and apologies to all.

Can somebody now bury this thread? :0
