Gmail might or is targeting Ads by reading the text of keywords in the body of an email. This indicates to me that Google has the capacity to parse threw large sums of text, find keywords and display appropriate ads much faster than we are currently seeing in AdSense. Just think of the improvement your sites could see if text was read instantaneously and ads were displayed all in the same page load. Oh ASA?

We need this.

I suspect that the process of extracting keywords would happen when the email is received by gmail, not later when the account holder actually opens the email. When you view it, Adwords would already know what ads to display.

I would suggest that they can already do that very quickly and that the delay is due to them needing to visit your site first.

It seems like a broader match with Gmail too... As emails can be multi topic. I haven't noticed if new emails have less ads than older emails. It should be the same amount of power to process as they come in or as they are read. Don't see why it would have to be one or the other (same cpu cycles).
