Need More Channels

20 channels just not enough...

I have to say, overall, I am very pleased, having been using the Channels feature for about a month now, with the Channel addition. They work quite well, and it has been a huge step forward for the AdSense program.

However, I think it is time though for Google to take it to the next level. 20 channels is simply not enough. I could easily use 100 channels right now, and probably 250 or more within 6 months. Currently, I am forced to keep switching around my channels to different areas of my sites to try to determine how those areas perform. This forces me to keep a manual log of what channels I have changed names for, and what pages they are on, and makes looking at stats historically almost impossible, since most of my channels have now been changed at least 3 times. All in all, it is a VERY time consuming process - time I would prefer spending on building new content for my sites, rather than managing channels.

I am not sure what the limitation on Google's end is, but I am guessing 20 was an arbitrary decision. It seems to me, technically at least, there would be no reason that Google couldn't offer 100, 250 or even (and preferably) unlimited channels. I know for a fact that this would help me A LOT, and would only lead to improved success from the AdSense program for both myself and Google.

You can have more than 20 channels, but AdSense will only activate 20 at a time. You can deactivate and activate them within the control panel. This will save you from needing to change the script within your webpages once you have it set up initially.

I agree, there definitely needs to be more than 20 tracked at once. But I am hoping since they do allow you to have more than 20 channels currently, that they will allow you to activate more than 20 at a time in the future.

Google may not want to encourage tracking of revenues at the page level, which would be possible if the number of channels were significantly larger. Beyond that, it's possible that their system wouldn't be able to handle the extra load of more channels in the short term. Reporting lags seem to be worse now than they were before channels were introduced, so maybe Google needs to get that problem fixed before putting an even greater load on its servers.

Hi

I think More than 20 Channels makes tracking more cumbersome and resource hungry for google.
With keeping lakhs of accounts for adsense in mind it will become more unfesible to provide more channels,
Then may be we have to probly wait for 3 weeks instead of 48 hours to check the desired channel click throughs

"lakhs" = 1,00,000s (yes, the commas are in the right places for India) :)
