Wonder if you get allocated an average $ per click based on recent data, then the updates look at clicks x $ for most of the day, to simplify things, then a comprehensive database query at the end of the day to pick up the exact stats in one go - would save loads of bitty db queries?
For instance, yesterday it followed the pattern all day, but this morning the final revenue for yesterday is showing 45x + $y, where y is quite a lot.
