Has anyone who's running AdWords for an AdSensed site notice anything peculiar in Google's SERP cache when running AdSense (specifically, the content of the AdSense ads?)

All four ads were for the website that was serving AdSense. It's bizarre.

Seen it at more than one place, too.

The first time a cached page is served, it hasn't been crawled for the ads, so you'll get PSAs or alternate ads. Maybe the sites you see have set up their alternate ads to promote other parts of their site.

You can tell it's an alternate ad (not paid ad or PSA) when "Ads by Google" is missing.

No, looked for that. These were definitely AdSense ads.

I "think" I may have a similar problem. On one of my sites I am using WebGUI as my CMS. WebGUI has an option to use the perl module - CACHE::FILECACHE -. This greatly reduces the load on the server by caching pages in one of Apaches tmp file folders.

Now I don't know if this is the cause or coincidence but nearly ALL of the ads being shown on these pages are "generally targeted" (like a default set of ads for the main topic of my site). Now I know for a fact there are very specific ads that should be displayed on these sub-content pages, because they are displayed on other pages that do not use WebGUI. I contacted Google and mentioned this. My response was they thought the ads were sufficiently targeted...Well yes and no - kinda targeted yes, specifically targeted no. The click through rate on these pages is much lower then on other areas of the site...

We noted this at the beginning of the month, (previous post) also in Yahoo cache served pages. It is not PSA's that are being served but adwords ads, domain name ads etc. This is a change for Google after Yahoo dropped them as search results source, Thought it was an interesting development but didn't see much interest here on the board about it. URL's have code and publishers numbers so we are getting credit if they are clicked.

About time we had the opportunity to generate income from the big search sites serving up the cached copy. Think Google has finally leveled out this situation with this change. Still not on all pages served in the cache, and see it come and go, but looks like testing going on. I am all for this development as a publisher.

A followup to this one...now with new PSA formats. In google's cached copy they are serving up paying adsense type ads...in Yahoo cache now PSA's.....good while it lasted. Notice huge branding though in the Yahoo cache by google. Gotta love it...lol
