Google playing with stats?

I've noticed changing stats in my account

My impressions for March 14th were 28,000 for two days, but today they have been 'upgraded' to 31,000. Similarly, earnings for March 15th closed at $X and after a few hours was 'upgraded' to $X+2 with some more impressions added.

I wasn't aware that Adsense updated stats after the end of the day - does it to that with everybody?

Anyways! What the heck is going on with Google Stats this morning. Its like at 3am last night they stoped recording traffic and clicks and started it again at 9am @ traffic 0/$0. I hope they are going to ajust this to reflect that 6 hours of traffic and clicking. Anyone know whats up?

The Adsense stats often run hours late and sometimes are fully settled for 48 hours after the given day ends.

This does not reveal any revenue information. Unless of course you can figure out what 'X' is? I have a BSc in Mathematics and I must confess that I am stumped.

All day with "No data available" until 2 minutes ago.. and the impressions from the last two days changed on this update (more impressions, the same revenue). Something is going on there... :)

Maybe they're getting ready to release the 'better reporting' and 'more stats' that they've been talking about?

added features should not cause data "churn" as described by some members. Delaying Stats might make sense. Do we have any DB experts out there who might be able to guess as to how Google maybe handling AdSense Data and why we are seeing inconsistencies?

The last five (5) days worth of impression numbers were adjusted on mine overnight - just very minor differences from what I'd previously stuffed into a spreadsheet. Nothing else was touched.

I think a better question is why Google Does not let us know what is going on. ASA? Why cant we have a page in our AdSense Area that tells us the status of the AdSense System. For example today all we need is some message from google saying "AdSense Stats will be shutdown for the day for upgrades, your data will populate the following day".

My stats are updated where it counts {almost all the clicks}, impressions are running behind.

I don't get why some people's reports are so far behind when others {like myself} are usually no more than 3 or 4 hours behind.

I have a theory, but it involves a {conspiracy theory} so I am going to keep it to myself.

i would venture a guess that it depends on what server your account was originaly created on. However this theory seems thickled because we all know that the stats seem to get pulled from differnt servers or databases.

This is the first time we saw today the "No Reports Available" until noon. We now have something showing up but I venture it to be extremely delayed (6-8 hours).

Yes rainmakerpsi I think you are on the right track. I watch 2 accounts for client sites and "account A" updates much more frequent than "account B".

I also wonder if it has to do with the overall traffic on your site, as "account A" has many more impressions than "account B". So perhaps they update based on a priority set by traffic data.

rainmakerpsi - The longest I've seen with no update is 12 hours, and google says it can be as much as 24, it's frustrating, but hang in there! I'm seeing similar slowness.

Sorry, but I have to knock that theory on it's head. We are seeing just the opposite. Our much smaller "account B" is showing stats, but nothing on "account A".

They changed stats for the last two days? Not here! The whole month was updated today with slightly adjusted stats.

I've seen minor changes (no more than half a dozen impressions added on) on most of the days this month... no changes to the number of clicks tho...

Perhaps they've been working on the filter that sorts what impressions and clicks are legitimate?

I got a call today from a client about this as well. Seems stats don't match traffic, and then get adjusted many hours later.

Based on my database/systems experience (with zero evidence to support it :-) I would venture they have a tiered approval process for clicks. That would allow an immediate pass-thru of activity that passes their basic click-fraud tests, but a delay for traffic that needs to be passed through a more detailed examination (second tier, etc) or perhaps patterns which were flagged for a quick human check.

Perhaps there is no requirement for them to disclose their process, but they should document it carefully. With a systematic process of pofit-sharing like that, if allowed to become biased towards Google's profit side (even if through overly cautious negligence), cmight be classifiable as racketeering.

Kind of difficult to make a cas when you don't even know what your cut is or what the CPC was :)

Also this would asume that the advertiser is still being charged, which might not be the case.

in addition to the 'changing stats syndrome', adsense is also having some sort of a memory loss ... for the last 3 days my impressions are down 50%, CTR is up 0.3%, and earnings down 5%.

i don't know what google is cooking, but it doesnt smell very good... :(

I've noticed that, for some months, a batch of stats will get "tweaked" some days AFTER they are first posted. I just noticed that my records for the past week differed from the current display - now there's a couple hundred more impressions for each day and, in some cases, a few more clicks & $$$.
