I've managed to get google to properly target ads for my search results pages with a dirty little hack that involves nested iframes and the google_page_url variable. Yes yes, I know.

I'm curious when Google is going to come up with a way to correctly target ads for SERP's. It has been said that they aren't rushing because search engines compete with Google itself. There are many search engines out there that are searching things other than what google searches. So I think there is a sizable market and a reasonable demand for this sort of thing.

So when are we going to get ads targetted to the contents of a user defined variable in a page's query string?

Yes yes, I know.

I won't say it then ;)

Many people have reported themed results displaying on search results. The problem is AdSense targets based upon each unique URL, which is a problem when dealing with searches.

AdSense used to allow targeted ads based upon the "search string" in the URL, however, it was abused and they ended up removing it. Here is more on the?keyword loophole [webmasterworld.com]

Google does have a specific AdSense for search program, when you have 5 million or more searches a month:

Great information at [google.com...] I was totally unaware of this program, but where is the info about the required 5 million searches? How do you get to this page and where is the rest of the info?

(Maybe I should do a search for all pages linking to this URL, hmmmm.)

It took me a while to find it, but it is here:

If your site has more than 5 million searches per month, Google AdSense for search is for you.
