on the fold

Here is something that has worked fairly well for me as far as where to place an ad block on the page. Since my page design and personal preferences didn't allow me to place an ad block at the top of my page (leader board style) on most of my pages I have placed the ad block so that it spans the fold.

Where the content ends just above the ad block I placed a more link. When a visitor clicks that link it jumps the page down, but places the ad block at the very top of the page, with the continued content starting beside or just below the ad block (depends on the ad block style and content).

This seems to work well and keeps the ad block in view. In fact I think it refocuses the visitors attention on the ad block.

This may not work well for all sites, but I thought it might be worth sharing.

Think I might try it - sounds like we've got similarly displaying pages. Presumably as the 'more' involves a new query/new content, you might get a fresh ad as well?
