Competitive Ads

What about my Amazon links?

Competitive Ads
We do not permit AdWords ads to be published on web pages that also contain what could be considered competing ads. This would include all content-targeted ads as well as text-based ads. Text-based ads, for this situation, can be loosely defined as ads that mimic AdWords ads or appear to be associated with AdWords ads on your site. We do allow affiliate or limited-text links.

I advertise specific books which I sell through Amazon. I hand-pick them to complement my content rather than let some program automatically select them. But does this preclude me using AdSense?

I'd be interested in knowing this also, since I would like to use Amazon affiliate book ads as my source of alternate ads. The affiliate program I'm using now (banner) doesn't perform well.

I've never heard of a problem in that area unless you are mimicking the layout of the AdSense ads.

My impression was that they meant ads that look much like ad sense. The ones that offer up various topic related ads in much the same way.

I am assuming that doesn't include Amazon ads as they look completly different. I always have at least one Amazon book linked. One that is related to the article on that page.

If they really checked my site before approving me they would have seen that. I also link to Amazon books in my references at the end of articles. Those are in just text.

Woops, I see that jomaxx already answered this.

I am mimicking AdSense ads as alternate ads only to lead back to content pages within the same domain. There users will find content and AdSense ads again. G approved it.

There is no competition to AS around but I would guess if those pages would carry some third party ads that are clearly distinct from AS it would be fine.

Affiliate links are fine, as long as they don't look like Adsense.

Amazon links are fine, someone here even got the A-OK from the AdSense team to use them. Affiliate links are fine, as long as they do not look like AdSense.

Thanks for the clarification. I'll sign up tonight ... AdSense HAS to make more money than Amazon is doing for me!

I also have this question. I have wrote to Google and ask about that. No answer yet.
