I have a local portal with a business directory, articles of interest, local links, and a free classified ads section.

I emailed Google to get clarification about the TOS compliance with using adsense on the classified portion of my web site, but haven't heard back from them (4 days).

Questions for you guys/girls:

1. Is anyone else using adsense on classified ads?

2. Has anyone asked and received a reply from google that would ok this practice?

.

I have a forum that has a classifieds area and there hasn't been a problem in the past serving up those classifieds.

I didn't ask because I didn't think adding that section was against the TOS. I was just responding to user requests for a classifieds area.

In fact, now that I think of it...I'm running classifieds on several websites. Never been a problem.

Please don't consider this permission...just my own experience.

Thanks for your reply, Scott-

The Adsense TOS are ambiguous in certain places to say the least.

I appreciate your input on the matter!

Maybe a quick email to them would help? They seem to be pretty good at responding from what I hear.

Good luck!

Google replied back and said that they would only ask me to take the code off the particular pages that violate the TOS.

.. we constantly monitor all of the web pages displaying
AdWords ads. If we find that one of your web pages violates our policies,
we will notify you and ask you to remove the AdSense ad code from that
page...

Doesn't sound as draconian as some of the past posts of getting the "dear john" letter of violation and being cut off, huh?
