I planning to start image gallery site, and I would like to know if:
1. I will be accepted to Adsense?
2. Earn anything?

Every image will have rich description, and the site will be targeted at particular profession (images for widgetmakers!) so I expect that ads targeting those industry can be displayed on my future site.
Any thoughts?

Its not against TOS.

I have an image gallery to showcase users setups and information and it gets relevent ads and does decent with adsense. Not nearly as good as content though. People like to look at pictures for the sake of looking at them. With content they're usually looking for a specific piece of information so relevent ads are more appealing for a click.

just my 17 cents :)

My webite is 80% image galleries - all with text-based descriptions. Adsense does a pretty good job of targetting the ads (usually) but CTR is pretty low - I guess people are looking for pretty pictures rather than information.

I have a lot of gallery pages about snosports. I put affiliate ads on the gallery pages simply because I can tailor an item(s) specifically related to the image or at least the particular gallery. Can't really say what's more effective since I don't have related data for the adsense.

AdSense has given out warnings for not enough content [webmasterworld.com]. How much content is enough content is up to the AdSense team to decide though.

Ofcourse you want to have "content" but a well maintained and active image gallery *IS* great content in itself.

Content doesn't necessarily mean mindless drivel in the form of text :)

Definately though - choose what best suits your revenue and opportunities. Text ads do great on textual content because it is often being sought after when someone clicks on the ads - however a gallery that someone just browses mindlessly will ignore the ads and could push your ctr so low that google would ask for a review of your site.

I've maintained a 3-5% ctr on my gallery but it had reviews & content in itself and fits within the entire site.
