Self Clicks ...

I think has been an improvment in the AS click controller or so

It happened to me today that I was triying to filter an URL in my AS account .. I was jut entering the URL manually into the list because I'm scare of the self clicks ;-) ... but the Ad was still being showed on my site, so I decided to right-click to see the properties or see the source code and look for the link ... and there you go .. page opened :o ... Well fisrt at all I saw that the URL opened was a diferent one that the one being advertised .. I think they have a parked domain or so.. then I entered that new URL and the Ad stoped to show .. but then I was concerned about the click so I sent out a message to Google explaining the situiation and asking to remove the click if they could.

They have not anwered so far but I have being checking my AS account and I see how the PI are being updated but no the Clicks counter (so you can guess now how many clicks I have so far :-) LOL ... you are rigth! ) hehehe...

The point is, at least they have took out the click and no answered back my email .. I think they have a better control of the self clicks now and is one of the reasons beacuse we have not seen lately some message talking about being dumped out of the program for that reason.

That would be wonderfull if this is the reason because we shouldn't be too worry about somebody else putting your AS account in a page and clicking like crazy to take you out of the program ... I'm pretty sure it won't happen to me a this time :-) .. my site hardly get some clicks per day .. but I'm working in the improvement.. but there are many here that had been prying for this to come I think :-)

What do you think?

Carlos.

Don't forget that the stats aren't real time, it might take a while for the click to come through.

It was hours ago .. about 4 .. and PI have been updated about twice since. But no the Clicks .. .that's why I think it won't be counted.

I had a similar problem today. I clicked on one of my own ads by mistake. It happened just a few minutes ago...

I hope that doesn't get me in trouble.

I know I have clicked on my own ads, but honestly it was FOR the ad. I'll be browsing one of my sites and see an ad that interests me and click it, then think ... 'oops, probably shouldn't done that' ... but it was a legitimate lead, it just happened to be me.

Gibble, there's no exception for "but I was really interested". If Google catches you, you will at best be warned and at worst terminated from the program.

I realize that, and I've trained myself not to do it anymore.

Well .. I got an answer from Google today.. they said in general that their proprietary technology analyzes all ad clicks for any invalid click activity that is intended to artificially drive up an advertiser's clicks or a publisher's earnings.

They said also that they undertand it was a mistake and a minor incident, so I should not be concerned and they are going to make a note of it and will take it into account during the regular reviews.
