Apply for AdSense, or Wait For Traffic Flow?

I've searched for a thread about this with no avail. My case might be slightly unique anyway.

A project I've been working on for months is coming to a close. My question, basically, is should I apply for AdSense now? Or Should I wait untill I see what type of Traffic I start recieving?

Also, I plan on running another Ad Network (FastClick). Should I sign up for AdSense first, or FastClick?

Is there a minimum number of hits to be accepted into AdSense? (I couldn't find anything on their site)

If I'm declined for whatever reason, how quickly can I reapply?

Just a few things I'm worried about, I'd like your suggestions when it comes to the whole 'new launch' thing :) Thanks.

There is no minimum of hits before you can apply for adsense.

You may want to get some incoming links before you display your adsense ads. It has been rumored that some people will not link to you if there is any advertising on your site. I don't know how much of a problem that is though.

Zeal turned down my most recent site for having adsense (too commercial), which was funny because they accepted one with the same layout the month before. Go figure.

Wait for traffic!

otherwise your expectations of the program may be to high & unrealistic.

Launch your site, get some good backlinks coming in and see how its goes.

You don't have to get tons of traffic coming in before applying, but it does make sense to have traffic coming in to get any decent results.

Fastclick requires your site to have 3000 impressions per month. In my experience that's about 75-100 unique visitors per day ... do you already have that traffic?

WebWalla: The simple answer is no. But I'm not new to launching websites, just to making revenue from them ;) I am quite confident I can get that number of users fairly quickly, and at the end of 1 month I plan to have 1,000 uniques a day.

Thank you for all your input :)

Edit: I'm still wondering what Google's policy is with applying/reapplying if declined...

From what others have said, some have had emails from Adsense a few months later asking if they still want to join after first being refused, not sure if that still happens now the program is out of its infancy.

However if you were turned down, and was given a reason or managed to find out why, E.G say not enough content, or some of the content on the site was unsuitable, and you have now made the changes and improved this by removing or adjusting, then reapply highlighting the changes made etc, then you should breeze it.

onfire is correct - you're welcome to reapply at any time once you've made changes to your site, by sending an email to the AdSense support team with your info. Your site will go through the entire review process again, and if it looks good, your account will be activated right away.
