Contextual filter?

The "advert for Google" presentation (see thread below) includes a screen that mentions a "competitive filter" and a "contextual filter."

I know about the competitive filter (that's the blocked-domains list), but what's with the "contextual filter"? Are we finally getting a filter that will block marijuana ads on "grass" pages or ads for beer taps on pages about tap dancing?

I just watched it, and I think it was referring to what they were saying before that, about how they filter ads which are inappropriate, meaning adult or questionable content ads.

I would assume each site is assigned a theme (thats where the default ads come from) and then google is checking to see if its ads should be displayed for that theme. IE your grass example

If that's what they meant, I'd call it overpromising, because I'm still getting ads for ATM equipment and supplies in an article on using ATMs and currency-exchange machines. But at least the SudsBuddy Beer Cooler ads are gone from my Munich Oktoberfest article. :-)
