PSAs - no getting away from them

The useless ad theory

I have had AdSense on my 1,500+ page web site since Google launched the service. The site is an inbound travel web site which covers all aspects of the focus country. This leads to a wide variety of ads - Travel Insurance, cheap flights, photo services, etc.

On my home page, the front of section about the country (general info), the country overview page show PSAs. Given these are the top 3 most popular pages there is an obvious impact on revenue from AdSense.

The home page has always shown good ads such as flight to the country etc and I have checked this from various regions too. Since rearranging the content on the front page I have been left with PSAs!

I don't understand this and have read just about every theory under the sun to try and trigger better ads or at least relevant ones! Google have been no help and I am truly amazed this has occurred.

Has anyone else had similar experiences or any advice on how to help?

Both meta keywords and meta description.

yep i do use meta tags.
The ads were perfect before now, with just a layout change, PSAs appear.

The navigation, page name, links, title, etc. all stayed the same. Just a case of shifting stuff about on the page.

Make sure your desired keywords are nearest to the AdSense placement.

How long have you been experiencing PSAs on that page? How many times has the mediabot been by since you have seen PSAs?

i'm getting a tons of PSA's since late yesterday. - nothing changed on my site as they were very content targeted - just not showing much now.

I would consider using for Google's "Alternate Ad" option - which will at least help you generate revenue instead of displaying PSAs.

I would guess that some part of your site is causing difficulties for the MediaBot to index - you might want to try moving the adsense code to a different part of the HTML in the pages (ie lower) as that may give the Bot a chance to find more content.

I have noticed that sometimes (not always) - that if the Adsense code is too high up on complicated web pages, the ads don't seem to be very targeted.

Check how much actual content you have on those pages. From your description above its possible that they mostly contain just links to other pages.
