It might help if you also identify what country you are in - as that would cause part of your equation to vary significantly from one country to another ...

It should also be noted whether the average salary is truly representative of most professionals or not. Average salaries in many countries can be unbelievably low, and are not a true refelection of the country.

Here in the UK, to be able to quit your day-job, you probably need to earn $4000.

Crick to be honest with you 133$ day on adsense isn't that hard to come by, and actualy if i was earning that low again I would probably be disastified.... and im from the UK... I'm happier earning 500$+ day and knowing I have less to worry about. And 5 figure a month is when you know your doing well with yourself... forget being poor, try and become 6 figures a year dependant on adsense lol.

I'm still working to make $10/day, having finally started to get $5/day.

Given that all the content is legitimate and in a fairly niche topic I'm reasonably happy. $10/day would be about the 'tops' from what I'm currently doing. I'd have to expand out into new topics to get beyond that.

$10/day would put me on a ~15% basic wage ($150/day would be normal)

Also, don't forget to make a difference between bruto earnings and netto earnings (before/after social security and taxes).
These differences may be very high in different country's. Ex.: if I earn 100$ bruto I receive maximum 60$ on my bankaccount...as an employe.
So to earn as much with AS to make a living (in the same standard as now) I should earn 100$ and not 60$.
And even then there is a difference. Earning money as a fulltime job with AS, then you'r a business and not an employee anymore, what makes also a difference in calculating taxes etc...

The best solution if you have few ties is to go to a country that has a low cost of living and work on your websites from there.

Your ultimate aim would be to move back to your own or preffered country having saved money and built up a steady income.

I lived off $30 a day in Southeast Asia and still had a comfortable existence.

Making $200 per day and trying to get to $300. $200 equals my previous income level, might double-up and work one more year (freelance tech, corporate meetings) and gain some extra bank. We don't work in the summer so I have 3 months off to gear-up additional content (Phoenix, AZ).

<rant>
We'll see if I can listen to their blah, blah, blah, speeches 9 more months. Yeash, nothing puts me more to sleep than corporate executives talking on and on about virtually nothing.

you're getting 120,000 uniques a month and only bringing in $6.00 per day? Are you running a joke site? Do you have other ways of monetizing that many visitors?

I am trying 2 others affiliate programs, which sucks, because the click isnt enough to earn something, visitor needs to click on the link and buy something, so then I win a small %. Adsense is the better one. And yes, I not satisfied..lol.. I will keep trying to improve the performance...

My very seasonal niche website makes me about $5/day over the summer and $30/day during the holiday shopping season. That type of income won't do much for me here in NJ, USA.

Been trying to diversify with some new non-seasonal websites but Google is mostly ignoring them so far.

10 year old site, 2 #1 Google positions for one of 4 main keywords. Page one somewhere for the other 2 with 2 paid links to 2 other sites in the top 5 on all SEs. Yahoo one #2 and 3 page 2s, MSN various page 1 & 2s.

$1K spent on adwords and the 2 paid links per month

alexa 90,000

100,000+ uniques per month, 12 page website

not markus but it pays the bills

Oh boy, are you saying that you pay google $1,000 per month?

$600 Google $400 for the links $200 per each site.

Adwords 30,000 visitors, sister site links 30,000, search traffic 30,000, other historical links 10,000, roughly.

Yes I expend $1,000 but my gross is $6,000 without spending it would only be around $2,000, that is an additional $3,000 profit.

It took a while to get up to that, my landing page is so tight and offer so attractive(and real) that I can get Adwords search for 3 cents page one placement and content 1 cent.

I give away something FREE that normally would retail $50.

Adsense is under 5% of my annual earnings, it was climbing but has fallen dramatically since June 2nd, dunno why.

The reason to partner Adsense with affiliate programs: Hopefully the affiliate will provide you with some content that would not be available to you otherwise. Or you may choose an affiliate in a field that is interesting to you, so that you can come up with your own content.

Mix affiliate links along with Adsense on the pages. If a visitor buys your affilate merchandise - great, you make money. If the visitor does not buy from you, he could still click on an Adsense ad - great, you make money.

You content is the key to draw visitors from the search engines.

the average salary in my country is 1500 EURO, I made a mere 194 EURO ($250) last month.

Direct tax rate here is nearly 60% on indivual and around 30% on corporation (they are several other indirect taxes on corporationa as well, such as tax on office space 57euro square meter in my area).

I'm planning to leave the country, I don't care about social security, the last time, I was ill was in 2002, before that I have been ill in 1996.... I'm rarely ill.
