adsense worries

hi,

I've been using adsense since 2 months & really love it.

We all love adsense & trust google technology to reward our hardwork. Even if google would pay us less, we would still love to be with adsense because of the brand & trust in google.
However, inspite of our best efforts, there are factors beyond our control, for which we may be punished...this is where I would like to place my fears.

1) If you have worked hard and been lucky, a Google update after a google dance may send your stats / CTR for new pages soaring & this, IMHO could raise a flag for some sites.

2) Most of us have competitors & It's certainly a possible a mean competitor could help raise a flag for you. Even Jenstar seems to agree here.

3)Using local area network / cable internet - same ISP. Since these IPs are sometimes same, local community websites may face some problems.

4)Getting links from blogs could trigger an increase in CTR which may not be nice. You may get unwanted links!

Google must be aware about this & I assume they are doing their best to protect the interests of genuine sites, big or small.

I'm sure all members here agree that google is the best thing to happen to our sites. Still, we our have little worries.....any body else with their share of fears?

Isn't AOL one big old proxy black hole?

If you aren't up to anything, then relax. A few week ago I got off my procrastinating behind and slapped up the AdSense code. Not worrying. Last thing on my mind.

Does anybody worry about this?

>Does anybody worry about this?

No risk no fun. :)

Seriously, no i don't worry but i control the thing a bit to avoid problems and to keep a healthy ctr - i don't put AdSense on my forums, nor on other community pages, nor on pages where the competition is too harsh ...

What's so bad about having a low CTR in adsense?

I run AdSense on about 5 sites, including a forum site.. My impressions are way-off I think but my CTR is still under .5%

If you only have adsense as your only income, then there may be reason to worry, as you're never sure who may be wanting to spoil your day or current success.

Hopefully google has written systems to check for the dirtbags what may be trying to wreak your reputation.

The lesson: Do not have all your income eggs in one google adsense basket. Diversify your websites income if you can.

I get out there and do ad sales. Adsense picks up others I cannot or would not do. I did a proposal for a client who said no thankyou to us but yes to using adsense, after I mentioned the systems and it being featured within our websites, and his adsense campaigns (which he does himself) now appear periodically on our website in adsense.

Having adsense on our websites also helps us benchmark ourselves to check whether we could be charging too high or too low for an ad rate.

I use adwords too. It's great to have both adwords and adsense at our disposal.

Ok I understand that logic.

I use AdSense, and AdWords too for multiple sites. I also use FastClick, and sell advertising space on websites that I can.

My concern was does google allow 1 click from 1 unique a day, or per-ad per day, or 1 unique a month? Since the ads rotate and are shown on my forums and 3 sights related to the forums I fear google is not counting ads from the same person on differnt websites for different advertisers.. how does this work?

Thanks for the help

There is no reason to be worried about things you have no control of.
In order to comply with the Adsense TOS, make sure you select pages on which you put the Adsense code carefully. That's all you can do.

Do not have all your income eggs in one google adsense basket.

I believe that many webmasters don't have a choice. What's the alternative? Affiliate programs?...

Wise Words:

>If you only have adsense as your only income, then there may be reason to worry

Like the thousand other ad schemes before it, AdSense has a limited life span. Plan for it's demise and you will be ok.

If you're a publisher who hopes to earn money from a content site, you shouldn't be "planning for AdSense's demise"--you shouldn't be planning your site around any one revenue source, period.

Instead, you should focus on developing a large, solid, comprehensive, authoritative site that draws a targeted audience of readers who are valuable to marketers. That way, it will be able to attract revenues through contextual text ads, banner ads, affiliate programs, sponsorships, paid subscriptions, pay-per-view, or whatever other income opportunities come along next week, next year, or five years from now.
