I put adsense on my links page. I just checked my reports to see if we've been getting any click throughs, (it's been just a few days now), and I know that I've clicked through on more ads than my total clicks.
What's up with that? do the reports maybe update themselves in time, or is google not counting my clicks for some reason?
I'm not talking 200 clicks or anything like that, more in the range of 20 or so and google is reporting only 6.
I just have a link page on my web site, and since all the businesses listed on my adwords are related to my business, I have an implicit interest in them.
It seems to me that I get a lot of junk click-through traffic, and I don't consider myself junk as I typically am either interested in purchasing from these places, or I'm interested in info regarding their products.
However - one thing I HAVE noticed on my junk click through traffic is that I seem to notice much more than I'm billed for.
We have a live monitoring system on our web site, and when we're bored, my wife and I look at the referrers people are coming through. We get a ton of people who come to our adwords page and leave in less than 5 seconds, although from what I can tell from our adwords account manager, we end up with less click-throughs than I actually notice.
Usually they come in droves. The site will be dead, then bam bam bam 20 people are on our site, and then they are all gone. They come from different IPs, and I get a lot of repeat visitors, so I can't tell from my logs if we get a bunch of junk traffic from any one individual IP or group of IPs.
I never really thought of adsense as a money maker for us, I'm really more interested in putting targeted links on our articles pages so people have products or services available to them that they would be interested in based on the article content. We just put it on our links page right off the bat so we could monitor and make sure that we filter out the competitors effectively.
