Reason To Change To EFT

It takes a LONG time to get your check if lost in mail

Ok, as I've posted in other posts, I had not received my standard delivery check (first partial month payment) for Aprils earnings. I waited until June 25th as advised and emailed Google to advise my check has not been received.

They are now stopping payment on the lost check. The lost check will be reissued only as a check (even though I now have EFT in place).
It will take approximately 15 days for them to add the lost check amount back into my earnings. If they do this before July 15th, then I will get a check reissued to me that I will receive sometime in August. If they do not process my lost check earnings before July 15th, then this check will be added into Julys earnings, which means I will not see this check until September sometime.

This is a very long process if your standard delivery check is lost, so I encourage everyone to sign up for EFT (if it is available in your country).

I must say that the AdSense teams response to my lost check email was quick and very polite, but the process is just extremely long if the post office manages to "misplace" your check.

EFT is so much easier.. but the reason i switched to EFT is because i was tired of going to the bank with a huge check and the bank teller looking at me like its a fake check. They used to always question me, i would refuse to discuss my line of work because it was none of their business.. they would then go ahead and place a two week hold on the check (even though it clears every month.. month after month). Now with EFT, i dont need to go through the hassle of that.

You also don't have to worry about the bank putting the funds 'on-hold'... which could take an additional 2-7 days for the check to clear ( depending upon your bank's policy) - plus it saves gas money :)

logan : i would have told them to piss off and taken my cheque and money to a bank that was happy to receive it, nobody should put up with crap like that from any bank when, after all, you are giving them money.
a lot of bank staff seem to forget that they only work in a shop

miguelito: yeah i wanted to switch banks badly but all my bill pay and other eft's and such were at that bank.

a couple times they wanted to hold my check, i took my check to citibank (googles bank) and cashed it.. brought it back to my bank and let the teller count $15,000 in 20 dollar bills.. LOL

Loganz:

I think you had some kind of luxury problem ;)

If people were looking strangely at me for cashing big checks every month, my smile to them would go around my head.. it wouldn't even stop by my ears.

And of course a bank has to look two times at checks with large amounts on them. I'm sure you can figure how the fraud-people would have acted if the banks just trusted every person coming to their desks.

But then, I can also see the benefits with EFT

i will make it: of course the first couple of times i understood.. but it just didnt make sense to keep putting it on hold for two weeks at a time, when all my previous checks went through without a glitch at all.

I get your point.. especially if it was the same person in the same bank just trying to give you a hard time, and wanted to give you a reason to feel frustrated.

I bet this banker was jealous :D

yeah, i liked to think she was jealous, but then again.. i had bills to pay and cant wait two weeks for a check to clear, that is just crazy!

no problems now, adsense goes through EFT, and all other checks i deposit are cleared within a day or two, of course those checks arent as big as adsense.. cant wait for those days!

Thanks for bringing this up, WolfLover. Yes, if you’re in a country where EFT is supported, sign up! It’s faster and more convenient, and can reduce or eliminate bank fees and check clearing delays.

If EFT isn’t available for you yet, you may want to see whether local currency checks are available for your country. If not, another good option is placing a self-hold (http://www.google.com/support/adsense/bin/answer.py?answer=15926).
