So- we have a system that makes it a "secret" to discuss your actual CTR, your CPM, or even how much you make. They are so secretive about it, they do not even tell you what your clicks are making. Their numbers do not add up. But they are Google, so we are supposed to "trust" them. Well, here are the numbers to prove that they are ripping us off. As you will see, something just does NOT add up!

I have run adsense in much the same fashion for months, I have a good, average baseline. I made a couple major changes to placement to some ads last night- and that is the ONLY change!- here are the results:

Page Impressions: 20% less (the day is not yet over- I expect at the end of the day to have about equal impressions, as no placements have been deleted, just moved on the page). Impressions are in the low 6 figures, so this is not just a couple of hits per dhay.

Clicks: well over DOUBLE

Page CRT: well over DOUBLE

Page eCPM: Up 50%

Earnings: DOWN 5%

So, #*$! is going on? G does not give us enough information to Really know whats going on, but I think these numbers show that something is not right. I kinda think since G is not on the hook for showing us any real stats, they can make up anything they want. And no matter what I seem to do, to actually raise numbers, the important one- the money I earn- goes down.

Google says trust us... I am not sure why I should. The numbers show something else entirely....

IMO you can't draw any conclusions after less than a day's worth of data...

Umm, maybe let the day finish and *then* post your +/-?

No problem. One of the nice things about AdSense is that either party can terminate the relationship without notice at any time, for any reason.

How can your eCPM be up 50% and your total earnings are down 5%? They should both be relative to each other, shouldn't they?

The only way this can happen is if impressions are down considerably, which can happen when only looking at one days worth of data. Did you move the Adsense block below the fold? I'm not certain, but I think the page view is only registered by google if the ads are actually visible in the browser?

Erm, maybe that's just the way it works out with your particular site / theme / users / advertisers? As others have said, less than a day is not enough time to get a full picture; I'd say a week at least is needed.

FWIW I made some placement changes on one of my sites; took a while to find the "sweet spot", and now the figures are going in the desired direction.

Nope, the Adsense TOS say you are allowed to discuss your earnings with us.

They are so secretive about it, they do not even tell you what your clicks are making.

Well, they give me impressions, CTR and ECPM per channel. Sounds like a lotta data.

here are the numbers to prove that they are ripping us off.

I think your numbers are proving nothing.

I kinda think since G is not on the hook for showing us any real stats, they can make up anything they want.

So can you.

Sorry Dave, I do understand your frustration.
But you need to dig a bit deeper to get us on board ...
