So I have a forum that i blocked in my robots.txt because its new and there are only 6 postings on it. I'm starting to fluff it with some fake postings to get it more attention as a resource..(which will happen once people use it more because they aren't the first ones to post on it.)
I'd like to put adsense on it. I was thinking of putting a link unit in the overall_header.tpl (using phpbb) and wondered if that is against the TOS for adsense since they say it has to be in the <BODY>, even though the forum is not a traditional .html document
Has anyone else done this and if so, what are your recommendations?

The overall header (TPL) contains areas outside of the <head> section, if that's what you're asking. You can put AdSense code there, not sure if it'll show up as I don't put it there myself. I find that an optimal placement is in the following sections listed below.

index_body.tpl
viewtopic_body.tpl
viewforum_body.tpl

Yes, you can put ad code in overall_header.tpl. I inquired with Google a while back and they said it's OK.

Oh goodie....I'm figuring that since its a link unit, to put it underneatht the FAQs, profile list and Log in links so that it blends somewhat. But what i'm hearing you guys say is that it should stand out lower and therefore get gettet ctr

Experiment with one way, and then do an experiment the other way. In my way of doing it, I add <br>, I think two above and one or two below the ad unit so that there's a little space, makes the ad stand out better because the page looks less cluttered.

Best thing to do is give the overall header method a try for a couple weeks, then do the other way, and compare the stats to see which one seems to be doing better. There's no right way to do it. Just a right way for your particular situation.

Thanks MartiniBuster, I will switch it up alittle.
The only difficulty is that the site doesn't get alot of traffic yet, so the numbers are going to be pretty skwewed, but I think I can get enough information to determine what works best.
Again thanks and I will post the results.
