I just made a google site map out of notpad. Is thig sufficient enough? I think it will sufice. Tell me what you think. Its better than no site map. So does having a site map index all of my pages? Or at least help?

You should search around here a bit more (and maybe in the Google Search forum) for threads on people uploading sitemaps, and then losing lots of pages in Google.

I'm not convinced that it helps any - and there's definitely been some cases discussed here where it appears to have hurt people.

not neccessarily, I have had xml sitemaps since google started offering it, I lost plenty of pages during Big Daddy on many sites, some with a sitemap and some without. I also have sites that were un-affected by Big Daddy they too have sitemaps.
