I had experience real low CTR before but that was due to bad targeting, now all ads still the same as before this huge drop at list on my pc. I have great targetting ads. So I am lost at this point.
Is it just me?
Sure wish my clicks would come back so I could enjoy the eCPM improvement but then again... if they come back, eCPM will most likely sink. Sigh...
I have seen Google giving me clicks even a day after it actually took place
I always thought G settled accounts at the end of each day... their time. Are you saying there is no true clarity to daily activity?
In any event, my CTR woes are consistant over a couple of weeks... I've seen more click dumps lately as well but still an overall reduction in clicks.
I still think they're messing about with something however I can't work out what!
I lost like 60% CTR :(
Check to see if some advertisers selected your site for ads. I've had that happen and then there is just one ad showing over and over again on half the pages, some of them totally unrelated to the ad topic.
When that happens to one of my sites it seems to kill my click through rates because the four targeted ads that would normally appear on a page were often replaced by a single off topic ad.
At first I thought Google was discounting clicks from certain countries or something and have done everything but I can think of no way to improve it...Tried everything----
I am about ready to just dump my filter, fill the site up with more ad blocks and say to heck with it! Make it or break it, Just tired of racking my brain!

For what it's worth Ann, that's what I'm doing. Unfortunately, my sites are also getting hit hard by a BIG drop in traffic since Big Daddy and Froogle hit the scene. Until (or if!) that ever turns around, 1/4 of what I used to earn may just be the reality. :-(
I being on adsense for like 3 years now
well, to all of you with well established sites:
ever thought of a phenomenon what probably many of us experience at some point and may be called "website maturity"?
steady presence in the serps for many years, increase in repeat visitors, decrease in fresh visitors, adsense accustoming and blindness, boring same or similar ads,..
would YOU as a visitor click on your ads? ;)
The best advice I can offer on this is to keep an eye on MFA's, badly targeted ads and poor advertiser landing pages. Quite often it's the advertisers that drag us down, particullary in marginal situations created by seasonal traffic slowdowns.

Sure, if I was researching how to spend my money and an ad responded to my need.
Repeat visitors can be great prospects for advertisers (or for affiliate sales), at least for certain topics. But don't take my word for it--see DoubleClick's "Research Before the Purchase" study, which was published last year. The study showed that most online purchasers don't buy during their initial searches; they research purchases multiple times over a period of weeks or months before making a decision.
Getting back to the topic of this thread, CTR can be affected by a lot of things, including things beyond the publisher's control such as where traffic is coming from. Hypothetical example: I have a European travel site, and people who are researching travel purchases are likely to click and to convert for advertisers. But if my site were suddenly to be featured on a directory site for K-12 geography teachers, I might start getting a lot of traffic from schoolkids researching school reports, and both CTR and conversions would go down.
it's not that website maturity is a reason for anyone, as said there are so many factors which can influence ctr. but it can be a matter. in the end there is a date of expiry on every website, even on "evergreen" ones - at least, if you don't evolve..
"website maturity"?
Nonsense, it never happens at once on a clear stop date, over a few sites totally topic unrelated.
This has nothing to do with "website maturity" and everything to do with G$$gle maturity/greed.
There are G financial targets to be met...and tons of naive webmasters to take advantage of...you do the math. And whatever you do...don't fool yourself, it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, IT IS a duck.
Lets stop the naive speculations please.

We've heard this kind of remark almost since the day AdSense was launched, and guess what: The payout percentage to publishers is almost exactly the same from one quarter to the next. To use your words, "Do the math," using the numbers in Google's quarterly earnings reports.
I am officially done with worry about this mess....if it comes back fine, if it don't I will be looking at other opportunities and options. really don't want to but if it keeps going this way in a couple of months I will be owing Google money!
My major site has been published since 1997, it is evergreen but I keep adding to it, if fact, I believe I will start writing a few articles for it even though my newer site needs me more. Ahhhhh the joys of being a one girl band. :)

I don't expect Google reps to agree with me ;)
* So many webmasters with noticeably reduced earnings Ecpm etc.
* So many ads with MFA garbage
* No proper option for webmasters to set minimum click payout or stop CPM ads from displaying
* Questionable “smart pricing” policy with no proper explanation as to what really happens to smart pricing when your site is flooded with MFA ads that don’t convert.
* Laughable payouts on search clicks
* Laughable click payouts after each CP “maintenance”
* Channels data that often don’t add up
* One cheerleader, consistently insisting that nothing has changed since adsense has started.... Give me a break.

Yea, Enron had some great carefully crafted numbers on their reports too.
Somehow I don't feel so bad knowing your CTR is down too, OptiRex! ;)
Aha, someone who actually reads my posts:-))
One thing that is more noticeable, insofar as I am concerned, is the much later updating of actual data. Page impressions are rolling up as normal whereas the actual earnings' metrics are anything between 2-5 hours behind.
Yesterday, Tuesday, was the first day since 30th May that my stats looked more or less "normal".
Core site #1 returned to normality 4th June
Core site #2 on 6th June
The satellite sites have been all over the place yet even they appear to have settled down now however we'll see what today brings since such wild and variable swings outside of the AdSense norm are disconcerting for all of us whether an advertiser or publisher.
What is even worse there seems to eb an endless supply of this ads :) and my filter link is full.
has anyone experience mfa bull crap ads and eventually they went away?
