Since last week. Rain, very cold for June, the temperatures are like November.

When it's Novmember and there is November weater, people think on chistmas, snow, winter sports.

But November weather in June can depress people. Depressed people click less often on ads.

That's my theory about my lower CTR in the last days.

I'm in India and the monsoon has arrived 1 week early. Heavy rains since the last 36 hours. This will last for the next 3 months. All the more reason for me to stay in and work on my site. Good thing my sites are US targetted :-)

jetteroheller,
Where are you? I'm guessing somewhere in Europe? I'm in France and I see show on the nearby mountain! Okay it's the Alps but still.

I see also snow on the mountains.

As I visited yesterday a client, my car made suddenly the ice danger warning sound, which occurs when air temperature is below 4.

jetteroheller,

nah - depression can be GOOD for some niches. People who enjoy their lunch break at 8 degrees think about holidays, beaches, summer vacation, short breaks to nice Italian lakes... They research information on these topics and subsequently click ads offering last-minute trips to such destinations.

Which makes me smile and forget the cold outside. :-)

is this a serious discussion? do you really think you can tell fluctuations in CTR caused by the weather? i'll be impressed if you can - unless you run weather-related sites...

surely it's a bad season for my widgets, but i couldn't complain about by widget-information site...

The sun hits my home office window, in AZ, from 3 to 5 pm at 110 degrees in the summer. Between that and the heat the computer generates the air conditioning in that room can't keep up. So I have to shut down and forced to go take my nap then.

I guess my local southwest clicks go down then also?

Yeash, what are these people doing sitting out in the rain with wireless laptops? Bad weather usually means more poeple inside and more clicks.

You're in Germany, if I recall correctly? The weather is from the UK - we've sent it ahead so it'll be there when we arrive for the World Cup. We reckon we have a better chance if the weather is British.

On a serious point, I've always thought that income goes up when there is bad weather. People spend more time at their computer, don't they?

sorry, but that's rubbish. the opposite is true: cool weather is perfect for clicks. people stay home and surf the web intensively instead of lounging in the sun and drinking beer outside.
besides, when the weather is fine, you can't see anything if the sunshine hits your screen through the office window. now that's bad ;)

by the way, i wonder if the weather remains this way through the world cup. geez.. and how the world cup influences our german sites traffic. should be very interesting..

That's true for good and bad weather within normal parameters. But at a certain point, people only become depressed. A June with 5 degree Celsius in the morning and raining since a week for example.

Unless people surf the web outside your earnings should go up.

it really depends on your niche. we have one site that sales go through the roof on a nice day compared to a cold wet one. people usually think of wanting this product when it's sunny.
